Eschatology Entertainment has unveiled Guns of Eschaton, a new Soulslike FPS set in a supernatural rendition of the American Wild West. The announcement arrived with a reveal trailer showcasing the game's gothic cowboy aesthetic, a style heavily influenced by the late Viktor Antonov, who previously served as the art director for Half-Life 2 and Dishonored.

Antonov, who passed away in 2025, had a significant role in shaping the world of Guns of Eschaton. Studio head Fuad Kuliev stated in a press release that Antonov's talent was instrumental in evolving the game's ideas, themes, and concepts into the player-facing world. Antonov also contributed to titles such as Fallout 4, Prey, and DOOM, with the latter's influence appearing evident in the game's trailer.

Described as "the world's first Soulslike FPS," Guns of Eschaton blends traditional Western tropes with supernatural horror. Players assume the role of a lone gunslinger with six arms, navigating a desolate frontier. The game's synopsis details a protagonist attempting to return home through a transformed Old South, now a haunted landscape filled with ruined settlements, mythic roads, impossible machines, and monstrous factions. The narrative suggests a world on the brink of a profound and dire transformation.

Gameplay in Guns of Eschaton is presented as a fusion of fast-paced FPS combat, reminiscent of DOOM, and the challenging progression characteristic of the Dark Souls series. The game's Steam page highlights its Soulslike elements, emphasizing that combat will be difficult despite the protagonist's use of firearms. Players can expect over 20 unique weapons, designed around the mechanics and limitations of 19th-century firearms. To encourage varied playstyles, Guns of Eschaton will feature active and passive abilities, custom bullet types, armor customization, and consumable items.

A key combat mechanic involves exploiting enemy weaknesses through different bullet types. The trailer also showcased unique enemy designs, including what appears to be an animated train. Guns of Eschaton will be available for solo play or co-op. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
