The multiplayer horror title Halloween will expand its roster of Michael Myers skins and maps with new downloadable content and a free update arriving October 27. The first paid DLC introduces a skin for Michael Myers inspired by his appearance in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, a film often overlooked in the franchise's history. Alongside this, a free update will add The Tower Farm, a new map also drawing inspiration from Halloween 5.
This DLC drop marks the beginning of the game's post-launch content roadmap, with developer Illfonic planning further additions throughout the year. While the focus on Halloween 5 might seem unusual given the franchise's extensive filmography, it highlights a broader commitment to incorporating various eras of the series into the game. Another Michael Myers skin will be available, based on his design in the 2018 legacy sequel Halloween (2018).
Each of these character skins will be available for purchase at $10. Survivor players will also see new content, including two new playable characters, Michelle and Eugene, and the Civilian Costumes Pack 1. This pack contains 14 new outfits, one for each survivor character, along with 42 color variations, or "tints." The new survivor characters will be sold as a pair for $10, while the costume pack will also cost $10.
The inclusion of content from lesser-known sequels aligns with the developer's stated goal of making the game a comprehensive celebration of the Halloween franchise. The new Tower Farm map offers a more open environment than previous maps, potentially making it more challenging for survivors to break line of sight from Michael Myers. The autumnal setting is particularly fitting for content releasing just before Halloween.
Illfonic's intention appears to be a comprehensive virtual museum of all things Halloween. The studio has a wealth of material to draw from across the 13 films in the series, and future updates could potentially feature Michael Myers' various iterations and even content from more unique entries like Halloween 3: Season of the Witch or Rob Zombie's reboot films.
