A fan-created mod has reintroduced split-screen co-op functionality to the PC version of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a feature that was notably absent from the official port. The mod, developed by Nexus Mods user Jpurd, unlocks the local multiplayer option that was previously inaccessible on PC.

While the mod successfully restores split-screen co-op, it comes with certain limitations. It currently supports only two players in split-screen mode, despite the game's capacity for up to four-player co-op. Furthermore, the mod reportedly only functions when both players are using controllers, and its compatibility may be restricted to Steam users. Players utilizing the PC Game Pass or Microsoft Store versions of Halo: Campaign Evolved might not be able to utilize this mod.

This development follows the recent integration of PlayStation 5 players into the Halo: Campaign Evolved ecosystem, allowing them to join Xbox and PC counterparts. The release of the game experienced an initial hiccup when players who purchased early access on Xbox were unable to play alongside PC and PS5 users at the game's official launch. Early concerns that a PlayStation Plus subscription was necessary for split-screen co-op on consoles were later clarified as not being the case.

Details on the overall performance of Halo: Campaign Evolved across all platforms are still emerging. However, existing data suggests that the game's secret ending may be hinting at a future remake of Halo 2. In the interim, players can claim free armor sets within Halo: Campaign Evolved using available codes.
