Developer Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, has offered insight into why so little has been revealed about his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier. In a recent blog post, Barone addressed fan patience and explained his meticulous development approach, which prioritizes a high level of polish before public demonstration.

Barone likened his process to baking, stating that he prefers to present a "fully baked bread" rather than a "half-baked bread." This philosophy extends to every aspect of Haunted Chocolatier, including core mechanics like the chocolate recipe book. He detailed how he iterates on these elements multiple times, striving for perfection in user interfaces that players will interact with frequently. This deep focus on detail and refinement is also the reason behind the scarcity of screenshots and gameplay footage.

"Many parts of the game will likely evolve and change before release, so if I reveal them early, I risk disappointing players if the final product does not match their expectation," Barone wrote. This cautious approach aims to ensure that when the game is finally revealed, it meets the high standards set by his previous success, Stardew Valley.

Haunted Chocolatier, announced in 2021, does not yet have a release window. While Barone had previously suggested a potential release within five years, he has since clarified that the game will be released when it is complete, rather than adhering to a fixed date. Fans eager for more information can refer to past updates and interviews, including an in-depth discussion with Barone published in May.
