Clear River Games has revealed the release date for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, an upcoming action game based on the long-running franchise. The game is set to launch on February 4, 2027.
Dragon Pearl of Destruction will receive a physical release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, with digital versions available on those platforms as well as for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The game is being developed by Bitmap Bureau, known for its arcade-era-inspired titles. Their previous works include the 2D run-and-gun game Terminator 2D: No Fate and the beat 'em up Final Vendetta.
The game will feature four playable characters: He-Man, Teela, Man-at-Arms, and She-Ra. Each character will have distinct movesets and magic abilities. According to the Steam page, Dragon Pearl of Destruction will include 13 levels, a common length for games in the beat 'em up genre.
This upcoming game follows a period of renewed interest in the He-Man franchise. A live-action movie was released earlier this year, and while it received positive reviews, it did not meet box office expectations. However, it became the most-streamed movie on Prime Video for several weeks. The franchise has also seen several recent television series, including the Netflix animated show Masters of the Universe, which concluded in January 2024, and the critically acclaimed reboot She-Ra: Princesses of Power, which ran from 2018 to 2020.
