Hell Clock, an indie roguelike action RPG, has released its "Journey of Miracles" update, introducing a permanent system inspired by the limited-time seasons found in games like Diablo and Path of Exile. This new mode, available to all owners of the game, transforms a standard playthrough with new challenges and rewards.
With the Journey of Miracles toggled on, players can earn significant buffs for each run by finding statues and surviving the ensuing combat encounters. These "Divine Blessings" can offer potent advantages, such as granting the benefits of a shrine simply by consuming a potion. A comprehensive list of these blessings is available on the game's Steam page, with many appearing designed to enable previously unachievable builds.
The update also introduces several new Relics to Hell Clock. While the game allows players to equip gear, the core of a character's power comes from these Relics, which provide stat bonuses and unique effects that alter abilities. Some new Relics are expected to push existing builds in new directions, such as one that enhances lightning bolt attacks but restricts their firing pattern.
Beyond the Journey of Miracles, the update adds a new underground crypt area featuring a new miniboss and a lengthy list of general patch notes. The Journey of Miracles, similar to the previous Journey of Nightmares, is optional and can be activated or deactivated at the start of any new campaign run. Players can even enable both Journey modes simultaneously for maximum challenge and chaos.
This permanent approach to seasonal-style content aligns with Hell Clock's design as a game that players can pick up and play intermittently. The addition of the Journey of Miracles provides a fresh incentive to revisit the game and experiment with new character builds.
