The co-op roguelite deckbuilder Hellcard 2 has released a new demo, allowing players to experience the game ahead of its 2027 launch. The sequel to the well-received Hellcard, which garnered 'Very Positive' reviews on Steam, introduces a unique papercraft aesthetic to its dungeon-crawling and deckbuilding mechanics.
In Hellcard 2, players venture into dungeons filled with paper-based enemies, including minions and dragons. The game supports both solo and online co-op play. When playing alone, players will manage multiple characters simultaneously. In co-op, coordination among players is key to effectively utilizing card-based abilities. A distinct gameplay element is the importance of enemy placement, as monsters can be positioned for either melee or ranged engagement, requiring strategic card selection to counter different threats.
Returning players will find new gear for their heroes, which not only alters their appearance but also modifies deck composition, stats, and buffs. The developers suggest that while appearance may be a factor in player choice, the strategic impact of gear will be significant.
