Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Temporarily Unavailable on Steam in UK

Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West were mysteriously removed from the Steam store in the United Kingdom on Wednesday. Players attempting to purchase the titles encountered an error message stating, "This item is currently unavailable in your region." Those who already owned the games retained access and could still launch them.

The sudden delisting sparked speculation, particularly given recent comments from Sony about potentially reducing its PC releases. However, Sony has since issued a statement clarifying the situation. "We are aware of an issue affecting the availability of select titles on Steam in the UK," a Sony representative told VGC. "We are working with Valve to address the issue. We apologise for the inconvenience."

While the exact cause of the delisting remains unclear, the statement suggests it was an unintended error rather than a deliberate platform strategy change for these specific titles. Sony's confirmation indicates that the games are expected to return to the UK Steam storefront soon. This incident occurred amidst ongoing discussions about PlayStation's approach to PC releases, including a statement from PlayStation executive Hermen Hulst that narrative-driven single-player games would henceforth be exclusive to the PS5.
