The latest update for Helldivers 2, titled 'Devoid of Liberty,' has introduced a new interactive feature allowing players to physically embrace the much-loved SEAF troopers. These non-player character allies, first introduced during the 'Heart of Democracy' update, have become a fixture for players, often seen fighting valiantly against overwhelming odds.
The 'Devoid of Liberty' update enhances the capabilities of SEAF platoons, enabling them to deploy via dropships to assist Helldivers in completing operations. Beyond their improved combat effectiveness, which includes increased numbers and the deployment of machine guns, the troopers can now also provide medical support with stims and a significant morale boost through player interaction.
Players can now initiate a hug with SEAF troopers, who will momentarily pause their combat actions to accept the gesture. This addition aims to foster a sense of camaraderie and acknowledge the troopers' challenging role in defending Super Earth. While the feature adds a touch of warmth to the intense battlefield, players are cautioned to exercise care when attempting to hug them during active combat, as demonstrated in early gameplay where such interactions could lead to complications.
The update also introduces new enemy threats, including the formidable Crusher and the swift, Necromorph-like Wretch, which add to the game's escalating challenges. The presence of these new adversaries underscores the need for the SEAF's enhanced support and their valuable contribution to the Helldivers' war effort.
