The official reveal for Helldivers 2's Warhammer 40,000 crossover event, known as the Legendary Warbond, is set for July 30. Sony confirmed the date via a brief teaser video that showcased one of the new weapons players can expect: the Bolt Pistol.

This weapon is a staple in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe, commonly wielded by various factions but particularly fitting for the Astra Militarum. The crossover has been a long-discussed possibility among fans, who have noted the thematic similarities between Helldivers 2's alien Terminids and Warhammer 40,000's Tyranids, as well as the Automatons and the Necrons.

Arrowhead Game Studios has previously acknowledged the potential for such a collaboration. In April of last year, production director Alex Bolle mentioned that discussions were ongoing, stating that many internally were fans of the Warhammer 40,000 IP and that concepts were being proposed. Studio head Johan Pilestedt also included Warhammer 40,000 on a list of IPs he would love to see adapted for Helldivers 2, alongside franchises like Aliens, Starship Troopers, and Terminator.

Following the confirmation of the Bolt Pistol, speculation suggests other potential inclusions in the Warbond. A Chainsword and the Astra Militarum's signature Lasgun are considered likely additions. The inclusion of a Boltgun, typically associated with the more powerful Space Marines, remains a possibility, though variants exist for standard human soldiers. Armor sets reminiscent of Cadian Kasrkin and Scions, known for their resilience from the fallen planet Cadia, are also anticipated.
