Sony announced plans for the Helldivers movie in January 2025, with a theatrical release date currently set for November 10, 2027. Ritchson has a notable presence in action television, starring in Amazon Prime Video's Reacher series and appearing in shows like Supergirl and Titans. His film credits include Fast X and Netflix's War Machine.
Momoa's departure from the project was confirmed in June, though the reasons for his exit have not been clarified. The Helldivers movie is still moving forward with its planned release date, with Ritchson potentially filling the lead role as negotiations continue. Developers from Arrowhead Game Studios are reportedly involved in the film's production.
