A new story trailer for the upcoming survival game Hello Sunshine was revealed during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, offering a closer look at the relationship between the player character, the Nomad, and the giant robot that shelters them.
The game casts players as the final employee of the now-defunct Sunshine Corporation, responsible for a world left in ruins. The trailer features the Nomad acknowledging their role in the catastrophe, a rare admission of fault from a corporate entity. The core gameplay loop involves the Nomad following the robot to a massive tower, scavenging for resources, and uncovering clues about the world's downfall. Players will need to manage their proximity to the robot, as venturing too far can lead to damage from the harsh sun. As the game progresses, the Nomad will be able to undertake longer expeditions away from their mechanical guardian.
During the night cycle, temperatures drop significantly, forcing the robot to stop and recharge. This period is crucial for the Nomad to upgrade their gear, perform repairs on the robot, and stay warm by its side. The developer has emphasized that the bond between the two characters is central to the game's narrative and mechanics.
Hello Sunshine is slated for release in 2027. Players interested in the title can wishlist it on Steam.
