Vivienne Medrano, creator of the adult animated musical series Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, has confirmed plans for crossovers between the two shows, which are now both available on Prime Video. Medrano's animation studio, Spindlehorse, will maintain creative control, and new Helluva Boss episodes will continue to be released on YouTube alongside its previous seasons.

Part one of Helluva Boss's third season is set to launch on October 14. When asked about the possibility of crossovers in this new season, Medrano told Polygon that audiences can expect visual integration in the first half, with more substantial crossovers planned for the second half of the season, slated for release in 2027. Medrano explained that the initial episodes of season three were written before the finalized deal with Amazon, which is why the more significant crossover elements are reserved for the latter half.

"We were able to lean into that crossoverness. We were able to go, 'Oh, we can actually maybe see Hazbin characters.' So you might see some things," Medrano said, referring to the visual nods in the first part of season three. The second half, written after the Amazon partnership was secured, will feature a more direct, albeit still limited, crossover. "For now, just to keep the narratives as streamlined as possible, it's more just getting the opportunity to maybe see a character or something. But there is some exciting potential — a little bit more than a cameo that will definitely happen this season."

Medrano indicated a desire for larger, more focused crossover episodes in the future, contingent on future opportunities. "I'm a big fan of the bigger, full-on, focused crossover. So fingers crossed we'll get to do that at some point," she stated.

The decision to release season three in two parts was driven by Medrano's eagerness to make the content available to fans sooner. The season comprises 15 episodes, a significant number by current animation production standards, equivalent to roughly two seasons. "My goal was to get the show to people as soon as possible, so it made more sense to split the season," Medrano explained. Although the initial finale for the first part was not written as a definitive end, adjustments were made to give it a more conclusive feel. Medrano emphasized that this is not the end of the story, but rather a narrative midpoint.
