Avalon Hill's celebrated dungeon crawl board game, HeroQuest, is making its way to Steam as a digital edition. Developed by Nomad Games, known for their digital adaptations of tabletop titles like Talisman and Fury of Dracula, the PC version promises to capture the essence of the original with its signature blend of goblin-bashing, trap-disarming, treasure-hunting, and spell-casting.

The digital edition will support both solo play, where the computer controls the Evil Wizard and his forces, and online multiplayer for up to four players taking on the roles of the heroes. A fifth player can optionally assume the role of the villainous Zargon, adhering to the American version of the game's lore.

A key feature highlighted for the digital release is the inclusion of a quest editor. This tool will empower players to design their own maps and missions, and further extend the game's content through integration with mod.io, allowing for the creation and sharing of user-generated quests.

HeroQuest: Digital Edition is slated for release on Steam in 2027. A closed beta playtest is expected to precede the full launch.
