Physical copies of Tango Gameworks' rhythmic action game Hi-Fi Rush have begun shipping to consumers, but some players have discovered that the included DLC content is absent from the disc. Superdeluxe Games, the publisher responsible for the physical release, has issued an apology and stated that it is investigating the matter.

The physical edition, which was released earlier this month after initial uncertainty surrounding the developer's shutdown and subsequent revival, has largely sold out on Superdeluxe Games' official website. However, upon inserting the disc into their consoles, some purchasers found that the game's add-on content was not present. This included cosmetic items for protagonist Chai, as well as the B-Sides expansion that introduces new songs and an Arcade Challenge mode.

Superdeluxe Games acknowledged the issue, stating in an apology, "We have discovered that some content is not included on the disc for 'Hi-Fi RUSH.' On this occasion, we have let down the expectations of everyone who made a purchase, and we sincerely apologize from the bottom of our hearts. We are currently investigating the cause and working on countermeasures. We will provide information as soon as details are finalized."

It is currently understood that the issue appears to be primarily affecting Japanese copies of the game. Physical versions distributed by Limited Run Games in other regions in January reportedly did not suffer from this problem. It remains unclear whether the missing DLC will be provided via a free update or if players will receive a voucher for the content in the future. This situation raises questions about the future of physical releases for games, particularly given Sony's stated plan to cease manufacturing physical discs for PlayStation games by 2028.
