Hideo Kojima appeared at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast to deliver updates on two upcoming projects: OD and Physint. Both titles are now published by Xbox, following news that Sony had withdrawn its support for the previously PlayStation-exclusive "action espionage" game Physint. This shift in publishing is reportedly due to concerns over the game's budget, potential profitability, and exclusivity.
Kojima stated that his partnership with Xbox is focused on the future of digital entertainment. He also shared that development on OD, the mysterious horror game, is proceeding on schedule. Performance capture and ADR recording were temporarily halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but the team, including actors Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, have delivered "intense and outstanding performances." Kojima described OD as a new type of game designed to "test the thresholds of fear," with further information to be revealed later.
The most significant update for Physint is the confirmation that Bill Skarsgård, known for his role as Pennywise, will star as the lead character. He joins previously announced cast members Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. New key art for the game was also showcased, featuring the costumes and characters played by Fraser and Skarsgård, reportedly captured by Kojima himself during a recent photoshoot. While Physint is still many years from completion, Kojima promised more news to come soon.
Kojima had previously indicated that Physint is "just the start" during Kojima Productions' 10th-anniversary livestream, suggesting potential franchise ambitions. However, he noted in 2025 that the game was still an estimated "five or six" years away from release, implying it could be a flagship title for the rumored Xbox Project Helix.
