Renowned game director Hideo Kojima has provided fresh insights into his forthcoming next-generation action-espionage game, Physint, during a revived episode of his Koji10 podcast. This title is considered a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Solid series.
Kojima described Physint as a project intended to commemorate his 40th anniversary as a game developer. He expressed a desire for the game to harken back to the origins of Metal Gear Solid while also delivering a novel interactive experience with a distinct approach to spy action, aiming to incorporate numerous new ideas.
Regarding the narrative and cast, Kojima confirmed that the plot is finalized and that he personally approached all the actors involved. He stated that approximately 70% of these actors are fans of his work. Many character names have been decided, and principal filming is scheduled to commence next year. Bill Skarsgård, Charlie Fraser, and Minami Hamabe have already undergone motion capture scanning.
Kojima, who is 63 years old, also shared his philosophy that he develops each of his games as if it might be his last.
Separately, Kojima is also developing OD, a spiritual successor to P.T., for Microsoft. This title is anticipated to release before Physint, which Kojima himself estimated last year would be between five and six years away from completion.
