Hideo Kojima Returns to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in Season 2

Fans returning to Night City in the second season of Netflix's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will find a familiar face making a comeback. Hideo Kojima, the acclaimed director behind the Metal Gear series and Death Stranding, reprises his cameo role as Hideyoshi Oshima.

Kojima originally appeared as Oshima, a braindance producer, in the video game Cyberpunk 2077. His character could be encountered in the Konpeki Plaza hotel during the "Heist" quest, interacting with other guests. The character featured Kojima's likeness, making him easily recognizable to those familiar with the game director.

Six years after his game debut, Oshima reappears in Edgerunners II. CD Projekt Red confirmed Kojima's return for the cameo shortly before the review embargo for the new season lifted. The official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners social media account highlighted the reappearance, noting, "Spotting a familiar face, chooms?" and confirming Kojima's return as Hideyoshi Oshima.

While Edgerunners II's connections to the Cyberpunk 2077 game are not always overt, it does weave in significant ties to the broader storylines experienced by players. Those planning to watch the new season might consider a refresher on the game's narrative elements to fully appreciate these connections.
