Hideo Kojima has revealed that he has filmed a cameo appearance in a major live-action film, though he remains tight-lipped about the specific project. The creator of iconic series like Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding shared this tidbit during a recent installment of his Koji10 podcast.
Kojima mentioned that he has already shot "a few other things" at the request of directors, hinting at his ongoing engagement with the film industry. This comes after his involvement in voice acting for the Japanese version of Zootopia 2, where he portrayed a mole. While that role was behind the microphone, his current movie appearance will be in front of the camera.
He declined to name the film, citing that he "can't say" what it is yet, but emphasized that it is a "big movie" and confirmed it is live-action. Kojima's passion for cinema is well-documented; his social media biography famously states that "70% of my body is made of movies," and he frequently shares his reviews of films. Fans have already begun speculating about his potential cameo, with guesses ranging from Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part 3 to The Legend of Zelda movie or Godzilla Minus Zero.
Beyond his film cameo, Kojima also shared plans for involvement in two significant, yet unnamed, "major anime" titles, where he will have speaking roles. Furthermore, he alluded to an upcoming video game cameo, a concept he has explored before. While details are scarce, some evidence suggests he may have been scanned for Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
In his primary capacity as a game developer, Kojima continues to focus on his espionage action game, Physint, which stars Bill Skarsgård. He provided an update on the title, noting that many character names have been decided and actors scanned. He is also actively working on his horror game, OD.
