Veteran game designer Hideo Kojima is set to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, reprising his role as Hideyoshi Oshima. The new season of the Netflix anime is scheduled to premiere on October 20, featuring a 10-episode block with a new cast of characters.
In the world of Cyberpunk 2077, Hideyoshi Oshima is a braindance producer from Tokyo. His ambition is to craft braindance experiences that resonate emotionally with viewers, diverging from the more sensational content that had popularized the technology. Kojima provided the likeness and voice for Oshima, who first appeared in the Konpeki Plaza during the game's "Heist" mission. Players can also discover a Bridge Baby Pod Easter egg later in Cyberpunk 2077, a nod to Kojima's game Death Stranding.
Kojima's involvement in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 follows his work on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which was released last year. He is also actively developing new projects, including the horror title OD and the action-espionage game Physint, which stars Bill Skarsgard in the lead role. A feature film adaptation of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also in development, alongside continued work on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, titled Cyberpunk 2.
