Neverway, the pixel art horror farming simulator with RPG elements, has been delayed and is now slated for a 2027 release. Developer Coldblood Inc. announced the postponement in a recent Steam blog post, explaining that the extended development period will allow for the refinement and expansion of the game's content.
The development team, which consists of three core members with additional collaborators, stated that the decision was made to ensure the game meets player expectations. "Seeing how the prologue resonated with so many of you, along with internal playtests, inspired us on how the later parts of Neverway could take shape," the developers wrote. "This means some of the original chapters and areas grew in a way we hope will meet your expectations."
Coldblood Inc. emphasized their commitment to delivering the best possible version of Neverway, noting that the scope of the game has grown beyond initial plans. "We believe in this game's potential, which is why we decided to take this extra time to make it the very best version it can be," they added. "As much as we love working on Neverway, we know you’re excited to play it too and don’t want to delay it again."
While the delay may be disappointing, the developers offered a glimpse into Neverway's intricate design. The game features over 250 routines for its 20 distinct characters, presenting a complex simulation for players to engage with. Furthermore, players will be able to romance 12 of these characters. The relationships forged with these characters may play a significant role in the game's multiple endings. Coldblood Inc. intends for these endings to be varied and interesting, rather than strictly good or bad.
Fans eager to experience Neverway can add it to their wishlist on Steam, where a playable demo is also currently available.
