How to Catch Minior During Pokémon Go's Meteor Showers

Minior has arrived in Pokémon Go, and as its celestial theme suggests, this unique Pokémon can only be encountered during limited-time in-game events known as Minior Showers. These events coincide with real-world meteor showers, and each shower brings a different color of Minior. To help trainers collect all the available variations, understanding the Minior Shower schedule is crucial.

Minior Showers Schedule

The schedule for Minior appearances in Pokémon Go is as follows:

| Meteor Shower | Dates | Minior Form | | --- | --- | --- | | Orionids | October 19 to 24 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | Green | | Leonids | November 14 to 19 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | TBA | | Geminids | December 11 to 16 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | North - TBA, South - TBA | | Eta Aquariids | May 3 to 8 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | TBA | | Southern Delta Aquarrids | July 28 to August 2 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | TBA | | Perseids | August 10 to 15 (5 PM - 11:59 PM local) | TBA |

Each meteor shower will introduce a new Minior color, with the exception of the Geminids shower, which will feature two distinct colors: one for the Northern Hemisphere and one for the Southern. The specific colors for upcoming showers are expected to be revealed closer to their respective dates.

Encountering Minior

Minior appears in the wild exclusively in its brown Meteor Form during the designated Minior Shower periods, specifically between 5 PM and 11:59 PM local time. Missing these windows means trainers will need to rely on trading or wait for a future event to obtain specific Minior colors. Fortunately, Minior spawns are significantly increased daily between 5 PM and 9 PM local time during each meteor shower event. Players can identify when this bonus is active by looking for in-game shooting stars.

Minior Forms Explained

Minior exists in two distinct forms: Meteor Form and Core Form. The Meteor Form is characterized by a rocky outer shell, while the Core Form reveals a colored core once the shell breaks. In Pokémon Go battles, Minior's form dictates its stats: Meteor Form offers high defense and low attack, whereas Core Form provides high attack and low defense. Minior's form will shift from Meteor to Core when its HP drops below 50% during battles against Team Rocket, including their leaders, and in the Go Battle League.

'Minior Shower Timed Research'

Players can also participate in the 'Minior Shower Timed Research' quest, which offers substantial Stardust rewards upon completion. The current research tasks include claiming rewards and using Star Pieces, with the ultimate reward being a large sum of Stardust. Additionally, there's a chance for bonus Timed Research, which can yield an even greater amount of Stardust.

Shiny Minior Status

Shiny Minior is not currently available in Pokémon Go. Players will have to wait for a future update for the opportunity to encounter and catch this alternate color variation. Details on how shiny Minior will be identified in-game have not yet been revealed, though it is speculated that players may only be able to determine its shininess after capture, similar to how shiny Ditto is handled.
