Cramorant, a Generation 8 Pokémon of the Flying and Water-type, has arrived in Pokémon Go as part of the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival event. This new addition also brings with it Arrokuda and Barraskewda. Cramorant features two distinct forms: Gulping Form and Gorging Form, which can be switched during battles using the Surf or Dive Charged Attacks.

The form Cramorant assumes depends on its remaining HP when it uses either of these attacks. If Cramorant uses Surf or Dive with low HP, it will enter Gorging Form. In this state, an opponent's attack is reduced if Cramorant is hit by a Charged Attack. Conversely, using Surf or Dive with high HP triggers the Gulping Form. In Gulping Form, an opponent's defense is lowered if Cramorant is hit by a Charged Attack.

Visually, the forms are differentiated by what Cramorant is attempting to eat. In Gorging Form, it appears to be trying to consume a Pikachu, while in Gulping Form, it targets an Arrokuda. Players may need to use a Charged TM to ensure Cramorant has access to Surf or Dive if they wish to utilize its form-changing ability, as other Charged Attacks like Hydro Pump do not trigger this mechanic.

There are three primary methods for acquiring Cramorant in Pokémon Go. It can be obtained through 5km eggs, exclusively during the Water Festival event. Additionally, players can encounter Cramorant as a reward in the Go Battle League, specifically for those who have reached Rank 16 or higher. The Go Pass event also offers Cramorant encounters, available at Rank 30 on the free track and Rank 19 or 30 on the premium track.

For players already invested in the Go Battle League this season, aiming for the Rank 16 reward is recommended, especially after securing the guaranteed Gabite encounter at Rank 1. Successfully completing three trainer battles within a single set offers a chance to find Cramorant. Repeated encounters may be necessary to trigger its appearance.

Those who have not actively participated in Go Battle League may find hatching 5km eggs a more accessible route. While these eggs contain a variety of Pokémon, there is a chance to hatch Cramorant. Furthermore, hatching these event-specific eggs contributes to progress in the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival's Go Pass, potentially leading to a Cramorant encounter.

It is advisable for trainers to catch at least one Cramorant before the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival concludes, as its future availability remains unknown. Shiny Cramorant is not yet available in Pokémon Go, but its eventual release is anticipated, featuring a color palette change from blue to orange.
