How to Catch the New Meteorite Pokémon Minior in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go is introducing a new celestial Pokémon, Minior, starting October 19. Unlike most Pokémon that spawn periodically in the wild, Minior's appearance is directly tied to real-world meteor shower events. Trainers will only have a chance to encounter this new creature on specific evenings when a meteor shower is active in the game.

Encountering Minior

During active meteor shower events, Minior will spawn on the map between 5 PM and 11:59 PM local time. To increase the chances of a successful catch, players can feed Minior a Razz Berry. While Minior does not evolve, it does possess a unique form-changing mechanic. Initially, all Minior appear in their Meteor Form with a brown outer shell. Once a Minior's HP drops below 50 percent during a battle, its shell will break, revealing one of seven distinct core colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each of these core colors will debut during a different meteor shower event.

Minior Shower Schedule

The following meteor showers will feature Minior appearances:

  • Orionids: October 19, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time
  • Leonids: November 14, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time
  • Geminids: December 11, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time
  • Eta Aquariids: May 3, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time
  • Southern Delta Aquariids: July 28, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time
  • Perseids: August 10, 5 PM - 11:59 PM local time

A different Minior core color will be available during each of these events, meaning players will need to participate in each meteor shower to collect all seven variants. Bonuses during these events include extra Stardust for catching Minior and shooting stars visible in the in-game sky from 5 PM to 9 PM local time. Additionally, a free Timed Research will be offered, rewarding players with a Star Piece and more Stardust upon completion.

Shiny Minior Availability

As of its debut, shiny Minior is not yet available in Pokémon Go. Shiny variants are typically introduced in later updates, so it is possible that shiny Minior will be added in a future event. No official announcement regarding its release has been made.
