Forza Horizon 6 features a gift drop mechanic that allows players to anonymously send cars from their garage to another player. This feature unlocks shortly after players acquire their first barn find vehicle.

When the gift drop feature becomes available, players will notice a prompt near empty barns indicating the option to "Gift Drop." While the game's narrative suggests filling these barns for others, the gifted car does not replace the barn find for players who have not yet discovered it. The gift drop function can also be accessed directly from the main menu under the "cars" section, rather than requiring players to be near a barn.

To initiate a gift drop, players select a car from their garage. However, certain vehicles, such as those obtained through special editions or welcome packs, are ineligible for gifting. After selecting a car, players can choose the intended recipient's player type. The available categories include "Anyone," "New players," "New Horizon Legends," "Returning players," and "Community contributors." Players can also select a pre-scripted message to accompany the gift and choose whether to include their username or remain anonymous.

The game then randomly selects a recipient based on the criteria provided. The recipient will be notified to claim their gift, and the sender will receive a confirmation once the gift has been received. Conversely, players may occasionally receive a gift themselves, often signaled by an in-game character mentioning gifts or barns.

It is important to note that gift dropping a car permanently removes it from the player's inventory. Therefore, players should carefully consider their choices before sending a gift. The process is designed to be straightforward, though the game offers minimal in-game guidance or tutorials for its utilization.
