The next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt introduces a transmogrification system, allowing players to alter the appearance of Geralt's armor and swords. This feature is not universally available at any blacksmith; instead, it is tied to two specific master smiths.
To transmog armor, players must first complete the 'Master Armorers' quest. This involves speaking with Fergus Graem at Crow's Perch and subsequently assisting Yoana by retrieving blacksmith tools from Undvik in Skellige. Once this quest is finished, Yoana will offer transmog services for armor.
For sword transmogrification, players need to complete the 'Of Swords and Dumplings' quest. This quest is initiated by speaking with Éibhear Hattori at his shop in Novigrad. Upon completion, Hattori gains the ability to reskin Geralt's swords.
Transmog is accessed through the 'reforge' tab when interacting with either Yoana or Hattori for crafting or purchasing items. Any armor or sword Geralt acquires will be unlocked as a skin for transmog purposes. Each transmog operation costs between 100 and 200 coin.
It is important to note that this system is not retrospective for existing saves. Players who have stored armor or swords in their stash will need to place them into Geralt's inventory to unlock their appearance for transmog. The article suggests this may be an oversight that could be addressed in future patches. Additionally, Lazare Lafargue, the smith responsible for Grandmaster Witcher Gear in the Blood and Wine DLC, does not currently offer transmog services, a feature players hope will be added later.
