Hytale's first major Chapter update, focusing on goblins, is set to release on October 12th. This update introduces the game's inaugural handcrafted dungeon and its first true boss encounter.
The Chapter 1 update will expand the variety of goblin enemies, introducing some neutral goblin characters alongside hostile ones. A new world event, the Goblin Breach, will also be added, causing tears in spacetime to release swarms of goblins and their hoarded items. Some of these salvaged items, such as a hookshot launcher and rocket boots, will become available for players to use.
A significant addition is the game's first handcrafted dungeon, described as a gruesome underground lair with vast caves and a sickly green atmosphere. This bespoke environment marks a milestone in Hytale's development towards a more structured RPG experience, moving beyond its initial comparisons to Minecraft.
The update also features Hytale's first boss fight against the Gobliterator, a heavily armored, multi-phase enemy that utilizes area-of-effect flame attacks. To incentivize challenging gameplay, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme has offered a $15,000 reward to the first player who can stream themselves defeating the Gobliterator in hardcore mode without any assistance, while also remaining naked.
This update comes as Hytale continues its early access development. While the game has faced challenges and progress setbacks, including narrowly avoiding cancellation, the gradual implementation of new content like the Chapter 1 update suggests that its planned features are steadily being realized.
