Players of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort are once again facing a familiar foe in table tennis: Lucía. This Mii character, originally introduced in Wii Sports, gained notoriety in Wii Sports Resort as the Champion and the final opponent players needed to defeat to master the sport. Her return in the successor title has reignited past frustrations for many.
While Nintendo Switch Sports initially replaced Miis with avatars called Sportsmates, Miis have made a partial return in Switch Sports Resort. Players can even increase their frequency, effectively bringing back the Mii NPCs of old. The return of Lucía, in particular, has been noted by players who remember her challenging gameplay.
Social media has been flooded with accounts of players struggling against Lucía. Clips show the breakneck pace required to even win a single point against her. One player shared a video demonstrating the intense rally needed for just one point, accompanied by the caption, "The type of shit required just to get 1 (ONE) point against Lucia." Another player expressed their frustration, posting an image with a simple, exasperated "you fucking bitch."
Some players have been asking if anyone has managed to defeat her, with a few sharing their hard-won victories while others commiserate about their losses. One player reportedly had to stop playing after over an hour of matches against Lucía, requiring a compress for their sore arm and heading to bed.
The return of Lucía has brought back memories of the Wii era for some fans, while for others, it's a renewed source of challenge and, for some, significant pain. The notorious table tennis champion is once again proving to be a formidable opponent for those seeking to achieve mastery in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.
