IDW Publishing is preparing to celebrate a significant milestone for its long-running Sonic the Hedgehog comic series: issue #100. To mark the occasion, the publisher has launched a new promotional initiative titled 'Road to #100,' which begins in earnest with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog #94. This issue will launch a new storyline centered on the characters Surge and Kit.
Sonic the Hedgehog #94 is penned by writers Daniel Barnes and Evan Stanley, with artwork by Alex Forrest. The story finds Surge and Kit in the desert frontier town of Pinfall Prairie, where disputes are settled through wrestling. As Surge climbs the ranks with Kit by her side, a darker truth about the town's leader, Mama Stinkerton, is revealed. Surge and Kit must then decide whether to continue their comfortable existence as fighters or to become true heroes.
The solicitation text for issue #94 teases, "The next mini arc on the Road to #100 starts here! You don’t want to miss this one, if you smell what the Surge is cooking!" The issue is slated to arrive in stores in March 2027.
Additionally, IDW is offering a preview of issue #91, which is set to release on October 28. Both Sonic the Hedgehog #94 and #91 can be preordered at local comic shops.
This news follows other recent announcements from IDW, including the "Godzilla Versus Everything" crossover event for the Kai-Sei line and Grant Morrison's upcoming new James Bond comic series.
