Ziff Davis's IGN has implemented another round of layoffs, affecting employees across multiple departments and including some of its most recognizable on-air talent. Sources indicate that long-time video hosts Seth Macy and Brian Altano are among those let go. Altano, who has been with IGN since 2009, was a prominent host of the PlayStation podcast "Beyond."
IGN did not immediately provide a comment when reached for a statement. The full scope of the current layoffs remains unclear, though factors such as employees' remote status and willingness to relocate may have played a role in some decisions.
This latest wave of job cuts follows a smaller group of layoffs that occurred just months prior, impacting employees including engineers shortly after the IGN Live event concluded. Members of the IGN Creators Guild noted at the time that the company had a pattern of conducting layoffs soon after major events. Altano, among others, hosted IGN's recent on-site coverage for San Diego Comic-Con earlier in the summer.
Ziff Davis, the parent company of IGN, acquired several other gaming websites in 2024, including Eurogamer and Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Since these acquisitions, the company has made sporadic editorial staff reductions. The former publisher of IGN, John Davison, departed the company over a year ago without a formal replacement.
