IGN has launched Game Scope, a new daily browser-based game that challenges players to guess video game titles from extremely zoomed-in screenshots. The game is free for all users, with logged-in members able to save their progress and compete on leaderboards. Subscribers to IGN Plus will gain access to the full archive of past Game Scope puzzles.

Game Scope draws inspiration from a long-running segment on the IGN Game Scoop podcast, where a similar guessing game was played. Now, players can experience their own version of the game daily. IGN aims to make its suite of daily games, including Game Scope, unique by focusing specifically on video games and pop culture.

Development of Game Scope involved considerations such as scoring mechanics, cross-platform display consistency between desktop and mobile devices, and how much of a screenshot should be revealed when fully zoomed out. IGN is currently running Game Scope in beta and is actively soliciting player feedback through a short survey to refine the experience. Players are encouraged to try the current Game Scope challenge, start a streak, and aim for the top scores on the global leaderboards.
