Inde Navarrette, fresh off her acclaimed role in the horror film Obsession, has expressed enthusiasm for a potential sequel. The actress, who is also slated to appear as Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot and star in Apple’s sci-fi thriller The Waffle House Index, indicated her willingness to revisit the character of Nikki.
"I would totally be open to doing a sequel. Are you kidding me? Who am I to say no?" Navarrette stated in a recent interview. Her comments come as Obsession director Curry Barker has also voiced interest in further exploring the film's universe, potentially through a direct sequel or an anthology series.
Navarrette believes that a follow-up story for Nikki should focus on her processing the traumatic events of the first film. "I think the non-pretty answer, which I think is more important to give sometimes than kind of just giggling through answers, is she’s starting a grief process," she explained. In Obsession, Nikki’s autonomy is compromised when her friend Bear uses a novelty item called the One Wish Willow to force her love upon him, leading to dire consequences.
Barker has previously suggested that a sequel could delve into the mythology of the One Wish Willow, potentially exploring other wishes gone awry. The possibility of a direct sequel, with both the director and star open to returning, remains a distinct consideration for the future of the franchise.
