Inde Navarrette, tapped to portray the power-siphoning superhero Rogue in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe X-Men reboot, has expressed her deep commitment to doing the character justice. Speaking to the LA Times, Navarrette stated she is "doing everything humanly possible" to ensure an accurate and respectful portrayal.
Navarrette, who gained wider recognition for her role in the horror film Obsession, highlighted her personal investment in the character. "I've studied that character. I want to do it justice for myself, for [director Jake Schrieier], for what they want to portray and also for what I as a fan want her to be like," she explained.
The actress's dedication extends to mastering Rogue's distinctive Southern accent, a detail she has previously teased. She also received a message of support from Lenore Zann, who voiced Rogue in various animated X-Men projects.
The MCU X-Men movie is slated for a May 5, 2028 release. Navarrette will be joined by a cast that includes Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Asa Germann as Angel. Director Jake Schrieier has hinted at comic book inspirations for the film's narrative.
Meanwhile, some established X-Men characters are expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday this December, and Avengers: Secret Wars the following year, as Marvel's Multiverse Saga concludes.
