Further evidence suggests NetherRealm Studios is developing a new installment in its DC fighting game series, tentatively titled Injustice 3. A recent resume leak from a stunt actor working under coordinator Jake Huang, who also worked on Mortal Kombat 1, listed involvement in "Injustice 3." Although the resume has since been edited to remove references to the unannounced game, an archived version confirms the listing was present as of July.
Character Roster Additions
The resume leak points to the inclusion of Supergirl and Batwoman. Supergirl, Kara Zor-El, previously appeared in Injustice 2. Batwoman, however, has not been featured in the series. In the Injustice continuity, Batwoman is deceased. The Injustice series is set in an alternate DC timeline where Superman becomes a dictator after the Joker tricks him into killing Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis. Batman leads an insurgency against this regime. Batwoman's potential inclusion could be explained by the game taking place before previous installments, or through common superhero tropes like resurrection via the Lazarus Pit or multiverse convergence.
Supporting Evidence for Injustice 3
This is not the first indication of an upcoming Injustice title. Previously, a playtester job posting for an "unreleased AAA 2D fighting game" was spotted, with contextual clues suggesting it pertained to Injustice 3. Additionally, several voice actors have alluded to the game's existence, and NetherRealm's creative director, Ed Boon, has shared Injustice-related content on social media. The timing also aligns with the studio's release patterns, as there was a four-year gap between its previous titles, and it has been nearly four years since Mortal Kombat 1 was released. NetherRealm has not officially announced Injustice 3.
