Isaac Rouse has been cast as James Bond in the new audio drama adaptation of Charlie Higson's novel, Young Bond: SilverFin. This marks a significant moment as the franchise prepares for a new cinematic iteration following Daniel Craig's departure.
The 16-part audio drama reimagines Bond's earliest adventures, exploring his time at Eton College and a mysterious discovery in the Scottish Highlands. Rouse, known for his roles in The Crown and Get Even, steps into the iconic shoes of the future spy.
Young Bond: SilverFin is described as Bond's "first deadly adventure" and promises action, intrigue, and a deep dive into the formative years of the secret agent. The cast also includes Charlotte McBurney, Miriam Margolyes, Tim McInnerny, and William Hope, with Charlie Higson himself making an appearance.
This adaptation draws from Higson's five Young Bond novels, with author Steve Cole having also contributed four subsequent books to the series. Fans were recently introduced to another younger Bond in the audio drama 007 First Light, portrayed by Patrick Gibson.
The audio drama is available on the Big Finish website, with the first episode offered for free.
Meanwhile, the future of the film franchise is taking shape. Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct the next James Bond film, with Stephen Knight writing the screenplay. Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly in the process of casting the new cinematic Bond, with a shortlist of prominent actors including Jack Barton, Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Paul Mescal, and Harris Dickinson. An official announcement regarding the new film Bond is expected in the near future.
