Jason Statham is set to reprise his role as Adam Clay in The Beekeeper 2, the direct sequel to the 2024 action film. The first official trailer has been released, offering a glimpse of Statham's return to his ass-kicking persona.
In the sequel, the secretive Beekeepers organization has gone rogue, and according to a character voiced by Jeremy Irons in the trailer, Clay is the only one capable of stopping them. The trailer indicates a continuation of the franchise's blend of intense action, witty one-liners, and thematic bee references. Pom Klementieff, known for her roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, makes her debut in the series.
The narrative suggests the rogue Beekeepers aim for complete governmental control, prepared to eliminate any opposition. Clay, naturally, steps in to deliver his unique brand of justice. The trailer notably features Clay operating a 1969 Dodge Super Bee, described as "fully loaded with stinger," implying a passenger-side minigun. A memorable moment from the trailer involves Statham's character using a flamethrower and delivering the line, “Next time, don’t be so hotheaded,” set to Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
David Ayer, who directed the original The Beekeeper and previously worked with Statham on The Working Man, is involved in the sequel, though Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us, The Shadow Strays) is directing. Kurt Wimmer, writer of the first film, also contributed to The Beekeeper 2 before the screenplay was finalized by Umair Aleem (Kate). Ayer reportedly remains involved, keeping an eye on updates for the film.
Expectations for The Beekeeper 2 are high following its initial footage reveal at CinemaCon. Tjahjanto's reputation for directing intense, gore-heavy action sequences suggests the sequel may escalate the brutality seen in its predecessor. The trailer's reception indicates that fans of Jason Statham and the original film can anticipate further high-octane entertainment. The Beekeeper 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 15, 2027.
