Voice actor Jennifer English will no longer portray Gwendolyn, the protagonist of the upcoming game Tides of Annihilation, due to personal health reasons. Eclipse Glow Games, the developer behind the title, confirmed that English stepped down from the role in June. She will, however, continue to contribute to the project in an advisory capacity and has already assisted in recommending a successor for the part, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

"Earlier in June, Jennifer informed us that she would no longer be able to continue in the role," Eclipse Glow Games stated in a social media update. "While we were, of course, saddened by her decision, we completely understood and respected Jennifer in prioritizing her well-being. We are also deeply grateful for the care and responsibility she showed throughout this process. We'd also like to thank Jennifer for everything she brought to the character and to the project. Her performance brought depth, strength, vulnerability, and heart to the role."

English expressed her gratitude to the Tides of Annihilation team in an Instagram story, conveyed via Genki. She stated her excitement for players to experience the "passion, talent, and care for the craft" that her replacement will bring to the character. The new voice actor is currently in the process of recording her lines. Players will have an opportunity to hear the new portrayal soon, as Tides of Annihilation is set to feature a hands-on demo at Gamescom 2026.

Tides of Annihilation is set in a post-invasion London and follows Gwendolyn's journey to find the Holy Grail, rescue her sister, and seek retribution against the forces of Avalon. The character discovers she can summon the Knights of the Round Table to aid her in combat. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a specific release date has not been announced.

Jennifer English garnered acclaim last year for her role as Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Her previous work includes significant character performances in Baldur's Gate 3 as Shadowheart and in Elden Ring as Latenna.
