Actress Jennifer English has stepped away from her role as the protagonist Gwendolyn in Eclipse Glow Games' upcoming title, Tides of Annihilation, citing personal health reasons. The developer announced the change on July 17, 2026, over a year after the game was initially revealed. English informed the studio of her decision in early June.
While saddened by English's departure from the voice role, Eclipse Glow Games expressed understanding and respect for her decision to prioritize her well-being. The studio also highlighted English's continued support for the project in an advisory capacity. She has been instrumental in helping the development team identify and connect with a new actor to take on the role of Gwendolyn.
According to the studio, the new voice performer was recommended by English and other cast members due to their recent work, which made a strong impression through both performance and dedication to character understanding. This new actor is currently recording their lines for Tides of Annihilation and will be heard for the first time in the game's playable demo at Gamescom 2026. Their voice will also feature in official updates released around the same time.
Eclipse Glow Games thanked English for her contributions, noting that her performance brought depth, strength, vulnerability, and heart to the character. They wished her the very best in her future endeavors, emphasizing good health and happiness.
Tides of Annihilation is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure game set in a modern-day London transformed by magical forces inspired by Arthurian legends. The game features intense combat and an immersive narrative, with Gwendolyn drawing on the aid of spectral Knights of the Round Table. The release date for the game has not yet been announced.
