Actress Jessica Henwick has confirmed that her character, Colleen Wing, will not appear in the upcoming third season of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again. Despite discussions with Marvel about a potential return, Henwick ultimately decided against reprising the role.
Colleen Wing, who first appeared in the Netflix series Iron Fist and subsequently in Luke Cage and The Defenders, took on the mantle of the Iron Fist from Danny Rand. Fans had expressed hope for her return in Daredevil: Born Again, which is anticipated to reunite the core group of Defenders.
Speaking with Inverse, Henwick stated that while she had been open to returning, she felt Wing's story reached a fitting conclusion. "Her story ended with her going off into the sunset. She has the Iron Fist. She's got Misty by her side. Daughters of the Dragon is happening. She ended on a really great note," Henwick explained. She emphasized that a return would need to be narratively compelling, arguing against a comeback that would undermine this established happiness or reduce her character to a background presence.
"I'm just not interested in bringing her back unless it's worth sort of unpicking that happiness, because obviously she can't be happy on a TV series," Henwick added. "If she's back, something's gone wrong. I would absolutely love to come back, but it would just really have to be the right story."
This decision comes after Henwick previously turned down a role in the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, holding out hope for Colleen Wing's future appearances. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is slated for a spring 2027 debut. The current status of Marvel's television output remains uncertain, with the recent cancellation of Wonder Man's second season leaving only Daredevil: Born Again and Vision Quest on the announced slate, both of which have completed filming.
