Fortnite is set to relaunch its Springfield-themed content with "The Simpsons Reload," an event that will introduce a host of returning items and a surprising crossover character: John Wick.
Epic Games confirmed that Keanu Reeves' legendary hitman will appear in Fortnite rendered in the distinct art style of The Simpsons. Promotional art for the event depicts John Wick skydiving into Springfield, utilizing a glider fashioned from weaponry. This inclusion marks a notable departure from typical Fortnite crossovers, merging the worlds of The Simpsons and the gritty action of the John Wick franchise.
Accompanying John Wick's arrival is a Simpsons-themed version of The Continental Hotel, known in the episode "The Last Barfighter" as The Confidential. This establishment serves as a clandestine meeting place for Springfield's bartenders. The hotel will be managed by Artemis, a character voiced by Ian McShane, who also portrays Winston Scott, the manager of the New York Continental in the John Wick films.
John Wick himself has a history within The Simpsons' canon. In the Season 35 episode "Iron Marge," Bart watches a parody of the character navigating a fictional ice cream shop called "Assassins Only Frozen Treats." This in-universe appearance featured Wick voiced by Hank Azaria.
The Simpsons Reload event will also reintroduce several popular items from the previous collaboration, including weapons such as the Cobalt Slingshot, Mr. Blasty, the Five-Gun, and the Cartoon Chainsaw. A new weapon, the Tactical Assault Rifle, will also be added to the game.
Furthermore, John Wick will be available as a collectible Sprite within Fortnite. This in-game collectible is described as capturing the stoic demeanor of Reeves' character, albeit with "expressive uwu eyes" for a uniquely grim yet adorable aesthetic.
Fortnite's "The Simpsons Reload" event is scheduled to go live on July 30.
