Johnny Depp's portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge in the upcoming film "Ebenezer" is revealed in an exclusive look from IGN Fan Fest. The actor underwent significant makeup and prosthetic application for the role, with co-star Trammell Tillman, who plays the Ghost of Christmas Present, stating he didn't recognize Depp in full costume.
Prosthetic Designer Barrie Gower noted Depp's active involvement in the process, suggesting details like moles and a longer chin to enhance the character. Depp is known for his transformative roles, including Captain Jack Sparrow and the Mad Hatter.
"Johnny really embraces the makeup process," Gower said. "He’s suggesting things like moles. He wanted his chin a little longer, anything that we can add to the character."
In addition to the transformation details, a new movie poster for "Ebenezer" has been revealed. The poster features Depp's Scrooge alongside Tillman, Robert Strange as the Ghost of Christmas Future, and Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past.
"I think he brings something unique to everything he does," said Rupert Grint, who plays Bob Cratchit. "I think this is such a perfect role for him."
Ian McKellen, portraying Marley, added, "Johnny is giving a performance the likes of which you’ve never seen before. But that’s what you expect with Johnny Depp, isn’t it? He’s full of surprises."
"It’s Johnny doing what Johnny does best," commented Daisy Ridley, who plays Clara. "Which are these larger-than-life characters with a real human touch."
"Ebenezer" is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 13. This reveal is part of IGN Fan Fest's week of exclusive content, including game announcements, trailers, and celebrity interviews.
