Actress Kat Dennings recently shared details of her audition for a role in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road, a process that involved a six-hour screen test opposite Tom Hardy. While Dennings described the experience as akin to "an acting class if it was [on] the worst day of your life," the audition ultimately concluded with a memorable and kind gesture from Hardy.

Dennings explained on TikTok that the extensive screen test, which she believes was for one of Immortan Joe's Brides, was a chemistry read with Hardy. During the audition, which was reportedly guided by an acting coach rather than director George Miller, participants were asked to perform unusual exercises. At one point, Dennings recalled, they were instructed to deliver lines without actually speaking them, relying instead on sounds. She noted that Hardy embraced this exercise with considerable freedom and creativity.

The most notable part of the experience for Dennings came after the audition concluded. As she was about to call for a ride home, Hardy, who was set to star as Max Rockatansky, offered her a lift. Dennings, who still lived with her parents at the time, was driven to her childhood home. Hardy even came inside and met her mother.

"He drove me home. He was so lovely," Dennings recounted. "We get to my house, which was my parents' house, because I still lived at home with my parents. And he came inside and he met my mom, and he was like, oh, what a nice house. She was like, oh, come on in."

Dennings expressed to Hardy that she didn't expect to move forward in the casting process but hoped he would. Later that evening, after she had changed into pajamas, she discovered Hardy was still at her house, having tea and chatting with her mother. "I can't say enough about Tom Hardy," Dennings stated. "I will be a fan of his for life. I think he's a wonderful person, and my mom still talks about him."

Although Dennings did not secure a role in Mad Max: Fury Road, she later joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Darcy Lewis in the Thor films. Tom Hardy recently released a rap album in collaboration with Czarface, under the alias Frankie Pulitzer.
