Kena: Scars of Kosmora Delayed to 2027

Ember Lab has announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has been delayed to 2027. Originally slated for a 2026 release, the developer stated that more time is needed to deliver a game that exceeds the quality and scale of its predecessor.

"We want to deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality we achieved with our 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, and at a much bigger scale," Ember Lab wrote in a PlayStation Blog post. "To do that, we need just a bit more time. Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver."

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is set after the events of Bridge of Spirits, with an older Kena traveling to the island of Kosmora. She seeks a cure for a mysterious affliction, but her spirit guide staff is shattered, forcing her to master a forgotten form of spirit guiding that utilizes alchemy-based elemental powers. The game will see Kena not only cleansing herself but also rescuing Kosmora from a spreading corruption.

Ember Lab described Kosmora as a large, multi-region map. To traverse it efficiently, Kena will have a giant wolf companion that serves as a mount. This companion will also aid Kena in combat and in solving puzzles. The island's history involves ancient Spirit Guides who developed a unique approach using four elements and Alchemystic Temples, with four interconnected cultures once thriving before a cataclysm destroyed one.

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is planned for release on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2027.
