Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Sequel to Bridge of Spirits, Delayed to 2027

Developer Ember Lab has announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the anticipated sequel to its 2021 hit Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has been delayed. Originally slated for a 2024 release, the game is now expected to launch in 2027. The studio cited the need for more time to "deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality" of its predecessor.

In a statement, Ember Lab explained that pushing the release into 2027 will allow them to "really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver." The developers aim for Scars of Kosmora to be an evolution of Kena's journey, incorporating the "wonder, charm, and challenge" fans have come to expect.

Scars of Kosmora will continue the linear adventure format of the original, but with a "broader and deeper scope." The story follows Kena, now a seasoned spirit guide, as she travels to the island of Kosmora seeking a cure for her affliction and aiming to reconnect with a past friend. The island is plagued by a powerful corruption that fractures Kena's staff, forcing her to develop new elemental manipulation techniques. Players will discover and nurture spirit companions whose powers Kena can harness to solve puzzles and overcome enemies.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits was initially released on PS4, PS5, and PC. It later expanded to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2024, with a Nintendo Switch 2 edition arriving in March of this year. Kena: Scars of Kosmora has currently only been confirmed for PS5 and PC.
