Acclaimed comic book writer Kieron Gillen, also a former games journalist, has written the single-player Episode Modes for the upcoming fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The game, developed by Arc System Works, is slated for release on PC and PlayStation 5 on August 6, 2026.
Episode Mode will feature five unique storylines, each developed with a different artist and focusing on a distinct team within the game's roster. These narratives culminate in boss battles against antagonists known as the Promoter and the Champion. A brief glimpse of this mode was shared in a recent teaser trailer.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls was revealed last year and its full launch roster has been confirmed. The playable characters include Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Hulk, Doctor Doom, Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, Ghost Rider, Blade, Deadpool, and Loki.
However, the game's release may face limitations in over 100 countries due to Sony's PlayStation Network linking requirement. This has caused the game to be blocked in numerous regions.
