It's been nearly a year since Kingmakers, the game about bringing modern weaponry to medieval battlefields, was delayed just days before its planned launch. Developer Redemption Road has now broken that silence with an extended gameplay trailer and opened signups for an upcoming playtest.

The new trailer details the game's focus on large-scale combat, alongside strategic elements such as leading armies, managing settlements, and resource collection for equipment upgrades. While the concept of deploying modern firearms in historical battles remains a central hook, the developer acknowledges the need for additional gameplay loops beyond simple combat.

The game's setting involves assisting Welsh nobleman Owain Glyndŵ in his 1403 uprising against the English. The trailer includes some cinematic interludes, though their integration into the final game remains to be seen.

Players interested in experiencing the game early can sign up for the playtest via the Kingmakers Steam page. An email notification will be sent if selected. As of now, Kingmakers still has a "coming soon" status on Steam, with no new release date announced.
