Marvel Studios has reportedly tapped actor Kit Connor to portray Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, in the studio's upcoming X-Men film. The movie is set to be directed by Jake Schreier, who also helmed Marvel's Thunderbolts.
According to reports, Marvel Studios has been actively assembling its mutant roster, with discussions held with numerous actors over the summer. This casting follows recent news that Samara Weaving is in talks to play Emma Frost. The studio appears to be aiming for a younger cast for this iteration of the X-Men, with Connor being 22 years old. This suggests that many of his future co-stars will likely be of a similar age, potentially aligning with other recently introduced younger characters in the MCU.
With three X-Men casting announcements seemingly confirmed, further news regarding other core X-Men characters, such as Charles Xavier and Magneto, is anticipated in the near future. If the cast is fully assembled by the fall, the X-Men film could potentially be released around 2028. Marvel currently has Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 slated for that year, leaving room for the X-Men's introduction as part of a planned soft reboot following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. The previous iteration of the X-Men is expected to feature prominently in Avengers: Doomsday and likely Avengers: Secret Wars, though the future of actors like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine remains unconfirmed.
