Kojima Productions Addresses Physint Development Concerns, Affirms Studio Health

Kojima Productions has issued a statement addressing recent reports concerning the development of its upcoming game, Physint. The studio confirmed that it is in a "healthy, profitable state" and is working with Xbox to bring the title to fruition, while also urging skepticism regarding unofficial statements about the project.

Recent reporting suggested that PlayStation would no longer publish Physint, with Xbox stepping in as the new publisher. These reports cited missed deadlines and profitability concerns with previous titles as reasons for PlayStation's withdrawal. In response, Kojima Productions stated on X that "None of the claims written came from any official or on-the-record source." The studio encouraged players to view such reports with "a dose of scepticism."

Despite the perceived issues, Kojima Productions emphasized that the studio remains financially stable and that development on Physint is progressing. They also asserted that their relationship with PlayStation is "still strong." Hideo Kojima, in an interview with The Washington Post, expressed surprise at PlayStation's decision to exit the project, viewing it as a significant potential seller that he and Sony had agreed to develop together.

While Kojima Productions asked for skepticism towards the reports, they did not provide definitive evidence to refute the claims entirely. Their statement appeared focused on reassuring the public about the studio's current financial health and its ongoing business ties with PlayStation. Kojima acknowledged the challenges independent studios face, noting the need to find new partners to ensure the studio's longevity.

Physint currently has no release date. When it launches, the game is expected to be available for PC and Xbox consoles.
