Konami May Be Hinting at a New 3D Castlevania Collection

Konami recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania series with a tribute video acknowledging its long history. While the video serves as a retrospective for the franchise, some fans speculate it may also be teasing a new compilation of the series' 3D-era games.

Towards the end of the anniversary video, artwork from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are visible, displayed on portraits within Dracula's castle. Notably, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, set to release in October 2026, was also featured. This selection has fueled speculation that Konami might be planning a collection that bundles together the 3D titles from the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 eras.

Konami has a history of releasing Castlevania compilations. In 2019, the Castlevania Anniversary Collection was released, featuring eight games from the series' first decade. More recently, the Castlevania: Dominus Collection included all three Nintendo DS titles alongside the arcade game Haunted Castle.

Beyond potential collections, Konami has confirmed that select Castlevania titles will be part of upcoming sales. Additionally, new vinyl soundtracks for classic games are available for preorder, and several Castlevania titles are currently free on mobile platforms for a limited time. The upcoming release of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse in October marks a significant event for the franchise, which has been relatively quiet since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014, aside from the aforementioned compilations. The Netflix animated adaptations have demonstrated a continued interest in the Castlevania IP, and Evil Empire, the developer behind The Rogue Prince of Persia, was previously announced to be reviving Castlevania for PC and console. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will follow Rose Belmont's journey through a ruined Paris to confront Dracula, and its release is scheduled for October 15, with a demo available on October 1. The game's mechanics will reportedly allow players to turn defeated bosses into allies. Konami's strategy of outsourcing development, as seen with studios like Bloober Team and Screen Burn on the Silent Hill franchise, might also be applied to Castlevania, potentially leading to new entries that redefine the series.
