Konami is actively planning for future installments in the Silent Hill franchise, with series producer Motoi Okamoto stating that the company is already looking ahead to a "second and third wave" of projects. This comes after the successful launch of the initial slate of new Silent Hill games.
Okamoto expressed relief and satisfaction with the reception of the recently released titles in an interview with Famitsu. He emphasized that the success of this first wave is not an endpoint, but rather a foundation for further development. "We can't share specific details, but we're currently looking at a number of projects," Okamoto confirmed.
He also revealed that convincing Konami executives to invest in multiple Silent Hill titles required significant effort. Okamoto felt that releasing only one remake would not be sufficient to re-establish the franchise, noting, "If there were only one release, wouldn't people think that the development is going to be cancelled again, I thought."
The revitalized Silent Hill series saw a major announcement in 2022, which included Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and the film Return to Silent Hill. The release of Silent Hill: The Short Message followed shortly after. According to Okamoto, the key to the franchise's resurgence lies in preserving its "strong psychological horror narrative." This narrative core, he explained, allows for greater freedom and experimentation with gameplay styles, as evidenced by the diverse approaches seen in titles like Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall.
Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, is also confirmed to be working on a remake of the original Silent Hill, which was announced in June 2025. Silent Hill: Townfall is available now and received a positive reception, with Eurogamer awarding it four out of five stars, describing it as "an often phenomenal ride; reverent to its roots, rich with ideas, and yes, properly unnerving too."
